Traveller RPG Companion App Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy for Traveller RPG Companion

Effective date: July, 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Traveller Companion mobile app (“the app”) handles information. Please read it carefully. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the app.

Who we are

Traveller Companion is an independent, fan-made app developed by Ace Goulet (“the developer”, “we”, “us”). It is distributed on Google Play and iOS App Store under the application ID `com.acegoulet.travellerrpgcompanion`.

If you have any questions about this policy or the app’s handling of information, you can contact the developer at:

Email: ace@acegoulet.com

The short version

  • The app has no user accounts and no login.
  • The app collects no personal data about you.
  • Everything you create in the app is stored locally on your device.
  • There is no cloud sync, no analytics or telemetry, no advertising, and no third-party tracking.
  • The developer receives none of your data.
  • The only network activity happens when you use the in-app Star Map or open a Traveller Wiki link or stream audio from Jamendo, which fetch public map and reference content from the third-party websites travellermap.com, jamendo.com and the Traveller Wiki.
  • No personal data is sent in these requests.

The sections below explain this in more detail.

Information the app does not collect

The app does not collect, store off-device, transmit to the developer, or sell any of the following:

  • Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact details.
  • Account credentials or passwords (there are no accounts).
  • Location data, contacts, photos library metadata, or device identifiers used for tracking or advertising.
  • Usage analytics, crash telemetry, or behavioral data.

The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party tracking libraries. The developer does not build a profile of you and does not receive any information about how you use the app.

Information stored on your device

The app is a tool for managing tabletop role-playing game content. Any content you create or import — for example characters, ships, vehicles, robots, non-player characters, custom species, travel logs, dice-roll history, and app settings — is stored locally on your device only, in the app’s own private storage.

This on-device content:

  • Is not transmitted to the developer.
  • Is not uploaded to any server or cloud service.
  • Is not shared with any third party.

You are in control of this content. You can edit or delete it within the app at any time.

Sharing content that you initiate

The app lets you share individual items (such as a character or ship) or a full backup as files, using your device’s standard Android share sheet, and lets you import files that others send you.

This sharing is always initiated by you, goes only to the destination you choose (for example another app, a messaging app, cloud storage, or another device), and is handled by Android, iOS and the apps you select — not by the developer. The developer is not a party to these transfers and does not receive copies of shared files. Once a file leaves the app through the share sheet, how it is stored or forwarded is governed by the destination you sent it to.

The only network features: the Star Map, Traveller Wiki, Jamendo

The only features of the app that use the network are the Star Map, together with the optional Traveller Wiki links it offers, and the Jamendo music streaming service.

What connects to the network

  • Music in the Tools console’s audio subsystem is streamed from the third-party service Jamendo (jamendo.com) when — and only when — you switch the player on. Nothing is requested until you do. Tracks are Creative Commons works; each one’s artist, licence and a link to its page on Jamendo are shown in the player. Your device contacts Jamendo directly; the developer receives nothing. Only the track list is cached (24 hours); no audio is stored on your device.
  • Star Map tiles and world data are fetched from the third-party website travellermap.com so the map can be displayed and so you can look up public information about star systems and worlds.
  • Traveller Wiki links, when you tap them, open pages from the Traveller Wiki (wiki.travellerrpg.com) inside an in-app web view.

What is transmitted

When you use these features, your device makes ordinary web requests to those third-party sites. These requests contain only what is technically necessary to load public content — such as the map coordinates, world names, or wiki page you are viewing — together with a standard User-Agent identifying the app. Your device’s IP address is visible to those sites, as it is with any website you visit.

What is NOT transmitted

  • No personal data about you is sent.
  • No characters, ships, vehicles, robots, travel logs, or other content you have created is sent.
  • No account information is sent, because the app has no accounts.

Caching

To be a considerate user of a hobby website, the app caches responses from travellermap.com on your device for 24 hours. This reduces repeated network requests. The cache is stored locally and is removed when you uninstall the app.

Third-party sites have their own policies

travellermap.com and the Traveller Wiki are independent third-party websites that are not operated by or affiliated with the developer. Their handling of requests is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage you to review them:

  • Traveller Map: https://travellermap.com
  • Traveller Wiki: https://wiki.travellerrpg.com

No sale or sharing with third parties

The developer does not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your information with any third party for any purpose. Because the app does not collect your data in the first place, there is nothing for us to sell or share.

Children’s privacy

The app does not collect personal data from anyone, including children. It has no accounts, no sign-up, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking.

Because no personal information is collected from any user, the app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and it is designed to be compliant “by default” with children’s privacy laws such as the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the child-data provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K). If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the app, please note that there is no such data for us to hold, but you may contact the developer with any concern at ace@roadpass.com.

Data retention and deletion

Because all of your content lives locally on your device:

  • You control retention. Content remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Deleting within the app removes items you no longer want.
  • Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data, including your characters and other content, the app’s settings, and the map cache.
  • Backups and shared files that you exported and saved elsewhere (for example to cloud storage or another device) are under your control; the app cannot reach or remove those, so delete them yourself if you no longer want them.

The developer holds no copy of your data and therefore cannot delete data on your behalf — there is nothing on our side to delete.

Permissions

The app requests only the permissions it needs to function, such as network access for the Star Map and access to the file picker/share sheet so you can import and export files you choose. It does not request access to your contacts, precise location, microphone, or camera for tracking purposes.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, to reflect changes in the app or in legal requirements. When we do, we will update the “Effective date” at the top of this page and post the revised policy at its public URL. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
