In Communist Russia Art Creates YOU!

It’s a funny thing about creating something: the end result often ends up being very different than how you intended it to. Sometimes the materials just end up shaping themselves and it almost feels out of your hands entirely. I know I sound a little like a pretentious ass right now, but it’s true, and I am sure anyone who has ever spent a decent amount of time involved in a creative field or hobby can attest to that. I experienced this very phenomenon this past evening.

I decided it was time to stop being lazy and finally edit the video I took on the San Francisco trip. I entered into the project expecting to just make a compilation of some scenery and interesting things we had come across while on the west coast, but as I started rewatching the footage and working with it, it started to form into something else entirely. I guess it really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that all of the raw footage had one focal point, considering who was shooting most of it (me) and that there was only one other person with me (Edy). In the end, the music basically chose itself and the video ended up being about much more than my recent vacation.

Oh and I swear to god, the art/video/materials chose the Dio era Sabbath song at the end. That had nothing to do with me. I SWEAR.
