April Work Hours Bring Super Awesome Project Powers?

What a stupid post title. But, despite my lack of creativity in branding this post, April has been productive. So here is a recap of some of the more interesting items that hit (or have been started) this past month. Some new Parsons projects went live, a fun responsive page build for Atlantic Records went up, and the new design for the Dead Presidents Lounge was approved. (Visit post page for screenshots of everything mentioned).   Dead Presidents Lounge Website Design Deadpreztattoo.com is overdo for a facelift and with some pretty exciting PR for them on the horizon, we figured…

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

Wow. It’s been over a month since my last post. A lot has happened, which would account for my lack of posting. I quit my position of Marketing & Creative Director at the Emelin Theatre. I had been there 4 years and it was time to leave. I will still be doing much of their web and design work on a freelance basis. I underwent various stages of panic, extreme productivity, boredom, motivation, and lack of motivation during the subsequent job search before landing the position I was really hoping for: Web Producer at The New School. Specifically handling the…

DanBelcher.com Launched & Other Crap

Over the holiday weekend I met up with Dan and we launched his site! Check it out: DanBelcher.com. So killer. We are going to be adding a bunch more stuff to the portfolio and adding in some paypal shopping options so people can order paintings through the site too. Check back for that. Dan also knocked out the next stage of my half sleeve. I couldn’t be more psyched with how awesome the tiger came out. ROAR! And in Rusted Hero news, we recently played at The Bitter End, which was huge for us. Great turn out, awesome time all…

Who run Bartertown?

It’s no secret that I love the barter system and having extremely talented friends makes it all the more appealing. Dan’s site is coming along nicely (template done…just need to drop in content and launch) and his business cards are being printed, so this past weekend we started in on his side of the deal. He is an incredible tattoo worker* and in exchange for his new site, he is doing a half sleeve (finishing off the lower half of my left arm) inspired by my grandfather and the role he played in WWII. He was a navigator on a…

Oh the Horror: The Sequal!

Over the weekend I busted out a new business card for Dan as a companion piece to the new website. A fun and quick job, it took only two hours from the start of design to approval to ordering from the printer. Granted, it is based entirely on the website, which took much longer to design, but I am still allowed to be proud of my turn-around time on this dammit. The website is also coming along nicely. The wordpress template is nearly complete and the site should launch in the next week or so.

Oh the Horror!

Another current project is a redesign of Dan Belcher’s site. Dan suggested that he wanted something themed around old school horror movie posters, which is a super fun direction to work with. He also wants a blog now (as he should) so I will be building this one on wordpress too.

In Communist Russia Art Creates YOU!

It’s a funny thing about creating something: the end result often ends up being very different than how you intended it to. Sometimes the materials just end up shaping themselves and it almost feels out of your hands entirely. I know I sound a little like a pretentious ass right now, but it’s true, and I am sure anyone who has ever spent a decent amount of time involved in a creative field or hobby can attest to that. I experienced this very phenomenon this past evening. I decided it was time to stop being lazy and finally edit the…

Terrific Views and Amazing Tattoos

Back in New York. Trip was awesome and I’m really not quite ready to be back. Definitely would rather be out on Route 1 exploring with Edy. Oh well…that’s the nature of vacations I guess: if you aren’t somewhat sad to be home afterwords, it wasn’t a great trip. Now on to the good stuff. I finally got around to uploading my favorite shots taken over the course of the last week or so. You can check them out here (or click the photo below). One of my favorite parts of the trip was getting tattooed at Skull & Sword….
