While I wouldn’t call myself a professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination, I do enjoy taking the odd shot and prefer to have the right gear for the job. So with some extra cash from some recent jobs, I picked up a Canon T3i, a 50 mm f/1.4 lens and for extra kicks a MoneyMaker camera harness from HoldFast. I couldn’t be happier with the lens and the camera. I was absolutely blown away with the first shots I took. So I decided to take the gear out for some test runs. I went out to the NY…
I just added a new Instagram plugin to the site (as seen to the right of the screen). I used Instagram Widget for WordPress, a nice little plugin that was very easy to manipulate to add my own styling. The developer is also super responsive, so I anticipate a lot of additional functionality down the line as well.
Back in New York. Trip was awesome and I’m really not quite ready to be back. Definitely would rather be out on Route 1 exploring with Edy. Oh well…that’s the nature of vacations I guess: if you aren’t somewhat sad to be home afterwords, it wasn’t a great trip. Now on to the good stuff. This lens is so much better it’s almost absurd to even try to compare them. If you have the 18-55 and want to treat yourself and not even remotely regret it, pick up the 18-135. It’s a steal at $329 over at B&H and you can trade in the old one to soften the blow. Over the past few days we have visited…
I recently caught Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons at Maxwell’s in NJ. They were opening for The Devil Makes Three, who were also awesome, but for my money, Joe Fletcher was the better of the two. (I’m going to catch a lot of shit for that statement). If you dig rootsy southern country folk music in the vein of Steve Earle, Johnny Cash, Robert Earl Keen, Justin Townes Earle, Guy Clark, etc, you will definitely like Joe Fletcher & the Wrong Reasons. Their new album, White Lighter, is available to download free (and legally!) HERE. If you are reading…
