It’s no secret that I love the barter system and having extremely talented friends makes it all the more appealing. Dan’s site is coming along nicely (template done…just need to drop in content and launch) and his business cards are being printed, so this past weekend we started in on his side of the deal. He is an incredible tattoo worker* and in exchange for his new site, he is doing a half sleeve (finishing off the lower half of my left arm) inspired by my grandfather and the role he played in WWII. He was a navigator on a bomber in the 14th Air Force (Flying Tigers) and his bomb group patch was a gnarly reaper with flight goggles, holding a bomb. The next phase of the arm will involve a tiger, clouds, bombs dropping, and some other cool shit.
Original patch design.
*The title of “tattoo worker” comes courtesy of Dan’s daughter Bella. When asked if Dan prefers to be called a Tattooist, Tattooer, Tattoo Artist, etc, his reply is: “My daughter calls me a Tattoo Worker and that’s good enough for me.”
